Broken Dragons is about the people of China.
Focusing on personal experiences of crime and corruption, it is based around several dozen interviews. They were conducted with people personally encountered during business and personal travels in China or whose problems appeared in the media and struck me as representative of today's China.
All stories are fictionalised; they combine one or more experiences at a time and places and names are disguised. My objective was to illuminate general realities. I avoided setting the record straight on behalf of others. Most of the stories in Broken Dragons concern Chinese living in China because I believe they offer the sharpest insights. Also included are a few stories based around foreigners who have lived in China for long periods.
Broken Dragons can be bought at Amazon.com (international) or Paddyfield.com (Hong Kong for Asia) or Amazon.co.uk (UK). The publisher is the Inkstone imprint of Chameleon Press, a Hong Kong publisher specialising in fine Asian literature and topical non-fiction. |
